I Don’t Bite

Co-Director: Andy Hassell

Co-Director: Ben Yannette

Q: What was your inspiration behind this film?

A: The premise we started with was, "What if you went on a date with a serial killer, but it was a really great date?"

Ben: Dr. Wiley was loosely inspired by a self proclaimed psychopath I knew, who had a scar fetish, a shed full of painter suits, and always ordered his drinks with "two limes, no ice".

Andy: We were inspired by a true story of one of Jeffrey Dahmer's victims, who almost escaped, drugged, and actually made it to two police officers...but Dahmer was able to persuade them that this was just a drunken fight between two lovers. This dynamic plays out in some of the final scenes.

Q: What’s your favorite movie?

A: Fight Club is a major influence on both of us. It’s dark, but it’s sexy. The characters are irreverent. The violence is visceral. The score by The Dust Brothers walks you into some very intense scenes, while still maintaining a playful mood.
